A Catholic priest with a strong commitment to service, Father Thomas Maikowski is best known for his contributions to Catholic schools, his commitment to furthering his own education, and his service to the United States Air Force. In 2009, Father Thomas Maikowski retired from the Air Force after 25 years of service, all of which he spent as a reserve Catholic chaplain attached to Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque, New Mexico. In this capacity, Father Thomas Maikowski was awarded six medals for outstanding service, including two Air Force Commendation Medals, three Meritorious Service Medals, and an achievement medal. For 18 years of his service, Father Thomas Maikowski worked as an Admissions Liaison Officer for the Air Force Academy, working with students at 16 high schools in northwest New Mexico to promote and support their applications to the Academy. Father Thomas Maikowski retired from the Air Force with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

While he is no longer with the Air Force, Father Thomas Maikowski continues to commit himself to the other passion of his pastoral career, education. A teacher and administrator with three master’s and two doctoral degrees relating to education and school administration, Father Thomas Maikowski is best known for his work as the Director of Education in Northern New Mexico. In this role, Father Thomas Maikowski oversaw all of the Catholic schools in the area, ensuring that students were educated with the proper curricula and treated with care. Father Thomas Maikowski increased his duties in by taking on the additional position of Principal at Saint Francis of Assisi School. After retiring from both positions in 2004, Father Thomas Maikowski continued to work with Saint Francis of Assisi School as an Educational Consultant. In 2008, Father Thomas Maikowski accepted the position of Pastoral Administrator at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church in Page, Arizona, where he oversees religious education for the parish.
